Supporting organic family farms
We’ve always believed that organic family farms are vital to our health and the health of the planet. That’s why we ran a nonprofit organic farming school before we became yogurt makers. These days, we buy more than 300 million pounds of organic fruit, organic milk, and other organic ingredients each year, helping to support hundreds of organic family farms.
Organic farmers don’t use the toxic, persistent pesticides and chemical fertilizers routinely used by nonorganic farmers and known to contaminate food, drinking water, soil, and air. They also don’t use synthetic growth hormones, antibiotics, or genetically modified organisms.
Most agriculture is nonorganic, and organic family farmers are the revolutionaries who dare to make a healthy difference for people and the planet. When you buy our organic products, you help support farmers who are passionate about making the finest, purist food possible and taking good care of their animals and the earth.
Family farms provide our communities with beautiful, open spaces; rural character; fields and forests for wildlife; and local opportunities for business ownership, independence, and employment. They're also an integral part of our nation’s history and culture — a part we don’t want to lose.
